How Can You Help?

New data released by the US government has found that since the start of April, the temperature of the ocean’s surface is at the highest levels on record, at 21.1 degrees Celsius.

According to climate experts this rise in the temperature of the water is directly linked to more frequent and more extreme weather events such as hurricanes, due in part also to the melting of the polar ice caps and subsequent increased levels of water in our seas and oceans.

But how can we in business help tackle this global problem?

Greenhouse gases that we burn daily, when released into the atmosphere, trap more heat from the sun than is healthy for our planet and therefore increase the overall temperature which then directly effects the temperature of the water.

So, the obvious answer to the question is to burn less of these harmful gasses. But how do we measure this? And how can we most effectively make changes that will not only contribute to our businesses being more resilient to further climate changing events and patterns, but also meaningfully contribute to the sustainability of the communities that we serve and operate in?

As part of our Carbon Literacy Courses, accredited by The Carbon Literacy Project, aimed specifically at SME, we look at Scope 1,2 & 3 emissions and how we can identify and reduce these on a business-by-business basis.
