Avoiding Burnout

Many observers believe that the UK appears to be in the midst of a burnout crisis.

The World Health Organisation (WHO) describes burnout as an “occupational phenomenon” and while not classing it as a medical condition, they have described it as “a syndrome, resulting from chronic workplace stress that has not been successfully managed”.

While this is obviously something that greatly effects the individual, the results of for an employer in terms of productivity, reputation, employee exodus plus subsequent recruitment, and ultimately the profitability of the company, are massive.

At Peak Governance Business Advisors Ltd, we recognise that productivity can come at a cost, and especially post-pandemic, when the hybrid or working from home models can put pressure on the employee to work longer or more unsocial hours to demonstrate that they are as productive as those office or premises-based staff.

It’s almost as if the technologies we have to help us become more efficient at home have resulted in us spending more time working.

We recognise that your business is very much a people thing which, together with your leadership team, builds and defines the culture of your company.

Our staff are accredited by the Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM). We understand the nuances of human behaviour and in turn how this builds the company culture and impacts your reputation.

More and more we are beginning to see an increase in how preventing burnout can be a key tool to add to your array of people-based skills.
